What is Medication Abortion?

Medical abortion is a safe, FDA-approved option for ending an early pregnancy.

At Kyndred we provide medication abortion up to 10 weeks  (70 days) from the first day of your last period. Using two trusted medications — mifepristone and misoprostol — you can complete the process privately at home with support from licensed providers. Medication abortion uses two medications—mifepristone and misoprostol—to safely end a pregnancy up to 11 weeks.
This method is:

MIFEPRISTONE

  • Blocks progesterone, the hormone needed to continue a pregnancy.

MISOPROSTOL

  • Taken 24-48 hours after mifepristone to complete the abortion process. Causes cramping and bleeding to empty the uterus.

How It Works

Your Care Journey

  • Fill out a brief, secure health questionnaire. A licensed provider will review your information to determine eligibility and get back to you within one business day. In most cases, you won't need a phone or video call—we'll communicate through our secure messaging platform.

    You'll need:

    • The date of the first day of your last menstrual period

    • The date of your positive pregnancy test

    • A photo ID (any ID with your name and photo is fine—does not need to be government-issued)

  • Connect with your Kyndred provider— a clinician specializing in reproductive health. Consult with a  licensed provider via text, chat, video, or phone call in your online patient portal.Your Healthcare Homegirl will also introduce themselves and answer any questions. Some states allow for async vs sync 

  • Your medication arrives in 3-5 business days in discreet, unbranded packaging. Inside you'll find:

    • Mifepristone (1 pill)

    • Misoprostol (up to 8 pills)

    • Pain management medication (Ibuprofen)

    • Anti-nausea medication (ondansetron)

    • A pregnancy test for follow-up confirmation

    • A Step-by-step instruction guide

    • Your Healthcare Homegirl's direct contact information

  • Follow your personalized care plan at home. Your Healthcare Homegirl will also introduce themselves and answer any questions. Your Healthcare Homegirl is available via text, throughout the process to answer questions, provide comfort, and ensure you feel supported.

  • We are here for you. Our team offers care and support before, during, and after your treatment by phone, text, and our secure messaging platform. We'll check in with you one week  after receiving the medications, and provide next steps. At a later date we’ll discuss any ongoing healthcare needs—from contraception to sexual wellness visits. Your relationship with Kyndred doesn't end here – we hope it’s just the beginning.
