Testing may involve at-home kits (for BV, yeast, or pH) or partner labs routed in-network by your Healthcare Homegirl. We coordinate warm referrals to the Kyndred Care Network (like pelvic floor PT or GYN) if needed.​​

  • ### Bacterial Vaginosis (BV)

    Fishy odor, thin gray/white discharge, burning—especially recurrent cases common in Black women. Treatment plus prevention to break the cycle.​

  • ### Vulvar/Vaginal Irritation or Dryness

    Itching, burning, discomfort (with or without sex). We check for allergies, hormones, skin conditions, or microbiome shifts.

  • ### Yeast Infections

    Itching, thick white discharge, soreness. We differentiate from other causes and address chronic/recurrent ones beyond OTC creams.​

  • ### UTIs (Urinary Tract Infections)

    Burning with urination, urgency, pelvic pain. Quick relief plus strategies to prevent honeymoon cysts or repeat infections.

  • ### Pain with Sex (Dyspareunia)

    Entry pain, deep pain, or tightness. Connected to pelvic floor, hormones, infections, or trauma—we support with referrals to specialists.​​

  • ### Odor, Discharge, or “Off” Feelings

    Changes in smell, color, or amount. We test for STIs, imbalances, or non-infectious causes like pH shifts.​​

Care typically begins with a virtual visit, so you can share comfortably from wherever feels safe.​

    Complete a brief intake about symptoms, timing, triggers, sex, hygiene, and history.

    Track patterns if possible (discharge, odor, pain timing relative to cycle or sex).

    Note treatments tried and what helped (or didn’t).​

  • During Your Visit

    Meet a Kyndred clinician experienced in Black women’s health—no rushing, no shame.

    Discuss your story, symptoms, and concerns openly (including pleasure, partners, or stress impacts).

    Review options: treatment, testing, prevention, or referrals.​​

  • After Your Visit

    Prescriptions if needed
    Sent to your pharmacy for antibiotics, antifungals, or symptom relief.​

    Testing coordinated
    At-home kits or labs routed in-network; your Homegirl helps with coverage.​

    Follow-up and prevention
    Check-ins to track progress, adjust plans, or address recurrences. Sugar lessons for daily support.​

    Referrals if deeper care needed

Is this visit only for Black women?

Kyndred was created by and for Black women and centers Black women’s experiences, but our care is open to others who feel aligned with our mission and values. Our clinical approach, education, and community spaces are designed with the realities of Black women’s health in mind.

How does Sugar support contraceptive counseling?

Sugar is Kyndred’s education platform. It provides clear, culturally relevant information and micro-lessons on topics like understanding your cycle, hormonal vs non-hormonal methods, side effects, fertility awareness, and what to expect when starting or stopping a method. Sugar is integrated into your care plan so you have support, reminders, and education between visits—not just the day of your appointment.

Can you help if I’m coming off birth control?

Absolutely. We can talk through what to expect as your cycle returns, how to support your hormones, skin, and mood, and how to prevent pregnancy (if that’s a goal) using other methods. If you’re stopping birth control to try to conceive, we can also discuss cycle tracking, timing, and when to consider additional fertility support.

Can I receive a prescription after my visit?

Often, yes. Depending on your health history and preferences, your provider may prescribe certain birth control methods such as pills, the patch, the ring, or emergency contraception. If you’re interested in methods that require in-person care like implants, IUDs, or injections, we’ll outline your options and connect you with a trusted in-person provider when possible.

Do you offer non-hormonal birth control options?

Yes. Contraceptive counseling always includes non-hormonal options—like condoms, diaphragms, gels, fertility awareness, and copper IUDs—alongside hormonal methods, so you can make a decision that fits your body, beliefs, and comfort.

What can I talk about during a Contraceptive Counseling Visit?

Anything connected to birth control, your cycles, or your sexual and reproductive health. This can include starting, stopping, or changing a method; side effects you’re worried about; how birth control interacts with conditions like PCOS, migraines, high blood pressure, or mood; and how it’s affecting your sex life, energy, or skin.
